The Saratoga Mandolin Ensemble was formed in late 2001 by Norbert Hebert. Members come from all over the greater Capital District of Albany New York for weekly rehearsals. Because our group is the only one playing classical mandolin music in the area, two members travel one and a half to two hours to attend the bi-weekly rehearsals.

Instrumentation includes mandolins, mandola, octave mandolin, mando-cello, mando-bass and guitar.

The group with a dozen members has a library of over 60 orchestrations of music from the late eighteen hundreds and early nineteen hundreds. Included are waltzes, fox trots, mazurkas, polkas, tangos, ragtime and cake walks.

The ensemble has performed to surprised and pleased audiences at the Old Songs Sampler, the Old Songs Festival held at the Altamont Fair Grounds, the Saratoga Dance Flurry and local senior centers.
