The Denver Mandolin Orchestra originally formed during America's Bicentennial Year, the brainchild of mandolinist Bill Urban and banjoist Clark Buehling. Very quickly, the project was embraced by many of the area's top musicians, including Ely Karasik and Charlie Provenza, who encouraged players of all abilities to join the proceedings.

Following a hiatus during the '90s, the ensemble has regrouped with many of the key original members and a brace of new talent. Their "book" has expanded as well, including many of Karasik's original works and arrangements, as well as adaptations from the boundless imagination of Bill Urban and others in the orchestra.

Eighteen mandolins, four guitars, and a cello. 230 fingers. 172 strings. An eclectic family of players who all contribute to a special sound which is ... The Denver Mandolin Orchestra.
